Methods of Human Resource Planning. There are four methods of formulating HRP.
These methods are used to determine the requirements of personnel. By using these methods, the human resource planning manager can formulate an effective human resource plan for the organization.

Methods of Human Resource Planning
Annual Estimate of Expected Vacancies:
By using this method requirements of human resources for the whole year can be estimated. Thus the organization can also make necessary arrangements for procuring suitable human resources.
Long Range Estimate of Expected Vacancies:
This method helps the human resources manager to make a long-range estimate of human resources for the next few years ( usually for more than 3 years ).
Man Specification Requirements:
By resorting to the third method of human resources planning, human needs can be specified for the departments. Not only can that human resources with specific qualifications also be identified by this method.
Job Requirements:
Every job requires a separate type of human resources for proper functioning. This method helps the HRP unit/manager in determining job requirements for the organization.
Example – Job Requirements
the management information systems (MIS) department is looking for a programmer/analyst. A list of can-do criteria might include:
- ·Four years data processing experience, systems design and programming expertise in COBOL and RPG in a DOSenvironment.
- Knowledge of online and batch systems
- Familiarity with DOS, JCL, and utilities with VSAM/SAM
- College degree in math or computer science
- Knowledge of insurance, financial services, accounting or similar industry.

The human resource manager will examine the organizational structure regularly to anticipate its manpower requirements. A job analysis must be made to know the requirements of a particular job.
